Home group has officially declared it to be Summer break.
The "upstairs" group will meet one more time to finish up the "Holiness" study. I believe the date, time and location are still to be determined.
It always seems a bit sad to declare that we are pausing home group until the Fall. Summer always speeds by so quickly, though. The break can also be a time for thinking and planning for the the Fall. Do you have thoughts or ideas for our home group? Be sure and let us know so we can incorporate those in the plan!
See you all Sunday!

April 22
Our study is wrapping up this coming Sunday, April 22nd. There are several of the "upstairs" group who won't be able to attend this week. Since that is the case, this group will be finishing up the last chapter of "Holiness" at a time yet to be determined. :) The "downstairs" group will be studying through the final chapter and bringing this study to a close.
Our lunch theme for this week will just be "potluck". Bring whatever you would like and we will all feast as always. :)
Hope to see you all there!

April 15
Our home group study is quickly coming to a close! Two more weeks and we will be "pausing" for the summer. We will have to find excuses to meet throughout the summer, though. We miss everyone when we don't!! :)
This week we will be studying through Chapter 7, "The Heart of Holiness". If you haven't yet started reading it, she has a bit of a different format for this chapter. A large portion of it is intended to be used over several days as a devotional with scripture included to read and apply to our lives.
Lunch this week will be Italian.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!

April 1
Home group is planned for this coming Sunday, April 1st. No foolin'!
I have been trying to come up with a great lunch theme to go with April Fool's Day, but, well.....I got nuthin'. Therefore, this will be bring whatever you like, is handy, your favorite, or if you have a fun, creative idea, by all means bring that!!!!
Chapter 6 of "Holiness" is what we will be studying together. "The Pathway to Holiness: 'Put on'-Say 'Yes' to Grace". It's always such a blessing to study God's word together!
Looking forward to seeing you all Sunday!

March 25
We are still on the mountain!! Wooo! After that wind last Sunday, I wasn't at all sure any of us were still going to be here! Yes, we are here and it's even sunny and (sorta) warm. And windy. March in New Mexico, of course it's windy. :)
March 25 is National Waffle Day! In keeping of the spirit of the day we will have "Breakfast Foods" for lunch. If you don't get breakfast Sunday morning, no worries! Just come and enjoy breakfast for lunch. I'm sure Coey won't mind if someone brings bacon. :)
After we share breakfast for lunch, we will dive in to Chapter 5 of "Holiness".
2 Peter 1:3-7 3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. 5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge,6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.
Don't we belong to an AWESOME God? :)

March 11
This coming Sunday, March 11, we will be continuing our study of "Holiness". We will be studying through Chapter 3 together.
I have been made aware that March is National Peanut Month. I figured we might as well have a lunch theme of "Peanut Dishes" to celebrate. Since about the only thing I EVER make with peanuts is peanut butter cookies, I'm off to go see if I can dig up "peanut" recipes! Of course, if you elect to not bring a peanut dish, that will be wonderful. Anyone who is not a peanut fan will be singing your praises! :)
Planning to worship with you all on Sunday. :)

March 4
Just looked at the calendar to confirm the date for this next Sunday.......March 4. March 4? MARCH 4?!?!? Really?!?!? Wow. March has done a sort of "sneak-up ambush" thing on me this year. I even had an extra day in February, too!
My brain may be having difficulty wrapping its little self around the fact that this coming Sunday will be March 4th, but it is and we are meeting for home group. The adults will be continuing on with our study of "Holiness".
We haven't planned Mexican Food since January 15th so it MUST be time again. Mexican Food it is!

February 26
Holiness, holiness is what I long for
Holiness is what I need.
Holiness, holiness is what
You want from me.
We started our study of "Holiness" this last week. The Foreword and Introduction were wonderful and thought provoking. Next Sunday, the 26th, we will dive into Chapter 1, "The Splendor of Holiness". It begins with a quote from C.S. Lewis (one of my very FAVORITE) writers, "How little people know who think that holiness is dull. When one meets the real thing....it is irresistible."
Let's fill our tummies with soup and sandwiches before we dig in to holiness together. :)
Hope to see you all at worship!

February 19
We are ready to launch into the new study of "Holiness". I know we have all gained so much from the studies of "Brokenness" and "Surrender". This coming Sunday, the 19th, we will start the "Holiness" study by going through the introduction together.
Lunch theme is "chicken". And of course, yummy things that go well with chicken. :)
(My most humble apologies to John Wheeler and anyone else who dislikes chicken!)
Have a wonderful week in the Lord!

February 12, 2012
Mondays are fabulous, are they not? Happy Monday, everyone!
Home group is on for this coming Sunday, February 12th. This is our last chapter in the "Surrender" study. I hope everyone is able to come as we conclude this book and start looking forward to the next in the series, "Holiness".
February 12th is Abraham Lincoln's birthday. I was thinking we should have some of his favorite foods for lunch to celebrate! After researching it a little, I discovered this may not work too well. :) He seems to have really liked apples and hot coffee. Hmmm. He really didn't care whether he ate or not and had a hard time remembering to eat. Perhaps, we could all learn a little from this? :) Since that is the case, why don't we just say "potluck" with no theme involved. If you want to bring something with apples we will say, "For you, Mr. President!" :) I'll be sure and have coffee and water, his other beverage of choice. :)

January 29th, 2012
Greetings!
Next Sunday, January 29, will be a special one for our church family. A celebration has been planned to thank Pastor John and Trudy for their ministry to our church family and community. Since that is the case, we won't meet for home group that day.
The following Sunday, February 5th is the first Sunday of the month. We always "pause" home group on that day to allow the Leadership Team to meet.
February 12th will be the next time home group will gather. That week we will study through Chapter 8, the final chapter of the "Surrender" study. I hope everyone is able to come as we wrap up what has been a wonderfully, convicting study that has blessed us all!

"Full consecration may be in one sense the act of a moment and in another the work of a lifetime. It must be complete to be real, and yet- if real- it is always incomplete. Consecration is a point of rest and yet a perpetual progression. " Frances R. Havergal
This is the quote which started Chapter 6 in the "Surrender" study that we worked through this last week.
On to Chapter 7 which begins with this quote, " Dear Lord, You be the needle and I be the thread. You go first, and I will follow wherever You may lead." Congolese Believer
Amen and amen!! :)
We will be studying through Chapter 7 this coming week.
Italian Food will be the lunch theme. Normally, this early in the week I still have all sorts of wonderful ideas of the food I might be able to make for our lunch on Sunday. This week the realist in me is waving a white flag and admitting defeat from the get-go. Pretty sure I'll be buying a frozen lasagna and fixing that. To make myself feel a little better, I'll pick up some French bread as well. :)
Hope to see you all at worship!!

January 15, 2012
Wow! We haven't met for home group for so long it seems like it was last year some time!! :)
We are back "in the groove" this coming week, January 15. It feels like such a long time since we last were looking at the "Surrender" study together. I have checked, rechecked and I'm ALMOST positive that we will be studying through Chapter 6 this coming week. If that isn't correct, let me know! Or, you can let me float along, blissfully ignorant, thinking I was right all along. :)
Mexican Food is the first thing that popped into my head as I was thinking of lunch ideas and so that's the plan. No sense straining something thinking too hard is my motto.
Hope to see everyone Sunday!!!!!!
